Do you realize that Taekwondo is one of the most popular martial sport in Malaysia?
Its also a fact that Malaysia is the FIRST country that General Choi taught outside Korea, which makes Malaysia the 'home' for Taekwondo outside Korea. Malaysians are quite fortunate to have great masters of this art and sport as there are many well known teachers who are direct students of General Choi, founding Father of Taekwondo. Gindy, you're right, Karate is too... and we are fortunate enough to have great masters from authentic lineages. MLP, Taekwondo became a lousy art because of lousy kids who abuse the art and have lacked in discipline. Check this guy out... He utilizes each and every techniques correctly and have efficiently used it in K1 competitions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBdtzh8y7sc Lousy art or lousy guess? Bronzedgal, throughout my 17 years of experience so far... most TKD-ists are more prone to joint pain and injuries due to their snapping movements (almost similar to Karatedoka). This becomes worse if instructors are not able to supervise carefully correct body mechanics and structure of techniques applied. BTW, MLP... I'm not talking about which art is 'best' or 'worse'... its a matter of choice, just like religion. I bet you've realized this by now... I've studied different arts throughout my life and there are no 'prefect' styles that I've found. Its about efficiency and application of techniques which makes them effective, not mere 'names'... like religion too... Do you really think that you'll make others realize the truth with your approach of criticisms?

Lousy art. Taekwondo is one of the LOUSIEST martial art form in the world. The worst one is Silat. Both are useless. No fighting capability. Just prepare to get wacked only. Whoever tahans to the last wins. Cocck martial art form. How do I know? I am trained in 3 martial art forms. Want to know what is taekwondo? Look at Jackie Chan. Basically gymnastics and risk taking hoping to get lucky. Want to know what is MARTIAL ARTS? Look at Jet Li. Want to know what is Silat? Look at Abdurahman Wahid or in malaysia, just look at mahathir. Sickly, slow and alot of cocck.

No need to ask many questions, Gindy - it obviously is. Maybe because newcomers to martial arts see it as a sport where you are less likely to get serious injuries, whereas karate if you compete in the 'fight' category or 'kumite' you have to practise alot with your hands. In other words, you 'cincang' wooden blocks, fruits like water melon etc with your bare hands wrapped only in thin bandages. You can get seriously bruised hands if you didn't strengthen them enough before taking it one step higher. Other martial arts like Kung Fu and Aikido, not many places offer classes. Furthermore places that teach Kung Fu have teachers that speak mainly in the Chinese dialects so for a non-Chinese it is discouraging. How will you learn quickly if you can't really follow instructions? Taekwondo is everywhere especially in schools. If you pick it up in primary school itself, you will feel it is a waste by not taking it into secondary school and a higher grading level.

Is it true that the Siamese TOMOI used to invite the Tae Kwon Do team from Hongkong for a friendly fight somewhere back in 1990s. The Siamese TOMOI undisputedly won the fights twice.
