ask details for homeschooling in Malaysia?
ask details for homeschooling in Malaysia?
How can we get a special permission from Malaysia Education Dept. for homeschooling? Is it true that homeschooler can take the exam of SPM or even STPM as private student? Can you show us the "proof" or even the act of homeschooling law in Malaysia? please do let us know...thank you very much.

You can register for your SPM exam as a private candidate. There will be advertisements in the local newspaper & the Malaysian Examination Syndicate website on January every current year. For further info, you can email to the MSE : pertanyaan@lpm.moe.gov.my

'An official with the Ministry of Education says formal schooling in this country is not compulsory by law. "We encourage parents to send their children to school but we can't force them to do so since eduation is voluntary," he says. On the issue of homeschooling, the official says the ministry has no jurisdiction over the matter. (The Star, Education Section, May 6, 2001) If this is the case, then we can safely say that homeschooling is indeed legal in Malaysia and it is the right of parents to educate their children whichever way they deem best for them. However, be aware that anything can happen and that the authorities could change their stand at any time that they deem fit. But so far, there has been no indication that the homeschooling status would be jeopardized. Homeschoolers in Malaysia have mainly been on their own. For this reason, FamilyPlace and a few other homeschooling families have started informal homeschooling network to help all those interested in homeschooling.' (I googled) you can email: educate@familyplace.com.my and ask them questions. "Compulsory attendance: Primary level education is compulsory Legal status of homeschooling: Homeschooling is allowed only with special permission from the Ministry of Education. The guidelines are still unclear. There has been no legal case thus far."
